One of their common schemes is \u201cfree nights and weekends\u201d. What they do is simply to raise their rate far higher during the daytime, so the net amount you pay is still high. Your \u201ccost\u201d during nights and weekends is zero, but if you take your total usage and divide it into what you\u2019re really paying you\u2019ll see that your energy charge is still high.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

One of their sneakiest schemes is to offer an average billing plan. Sounds straightforward and simple, but what they do is to slightly undercharge you on a regular basis (especially customers who regularly pay on time). This results in a large balance owed getting built up, so that if a customer decides they want to switch to a different provider they have to pay back that amount. It\u2019s basically an additional breakup fee. Sneaky!<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n
