How is it possible for us to save you money and make money for your school at the same time?
Because about 3/4 of the deregulated electricity market in Texas is dominated by TXU or NRG Energy and their affiliated companies (Reliant, Green Mountain, Stream, Xoom, Cirro, Discount Power, Dynegy, Ambit, US Gas and Electric, and others)
These companies have over 260 senior executives combined! All those salaries and bonuses cost millions of dollars, and their electric rates reflect this reality. It’s not that hard for us to beat their rates!
Who would you rather profit, your school or these fat cats?
They also spend many more millions of dollars advertising their schemes, many of which are purposefully difficult to understand. That said, with clever and often misleading advertising gimmicks they do manage to buy their way into market dominance
One of their common schemes is “free nights and weekends”. What they do is simply to raise their rate far higher during the daytime, so the net amount you pay is still high. Your “cost” during nights and weekends is zero, but if you take your total usage and divide it into what you’re really paying you’ll see that your energy charge is still high.
Another trick they pull is to offer a short term teaser rate that’s available only to new customers, then they switch you over to a much higher rate that more than makes up for any lower profit they made initially. Our system watches out for this, so you will avoid falling into this trap!
One of their sneakiest schemes is to offer an average billing plan. Sounds straightforward and simple, but what they do is to slightly undercharge you on a regular basis (especially customers who regularly pay on time). This results in a large credit getting built up, so that if a customer decides they want to switch to a different provider they have to pay back that credit. It’s basically an additional breakup fee. Sneaky!
